A scheme aimed at improving quality of life for the elderly has been devised recently by the Secretariat of National Council of the Elderly and will be proposed to the government for approval by the end of next week, said Mohsen Salmannejad, head of SNCE.
“The proposal includes plans to improve various aspects of life for seniors such as leisure time and economic empowerment,” IRNA quoted him as saying.
People over the age of 60 currently make up 9.5% (7.6 million) of Iran’s population of 80 million. In 2015, 8.2% of the country’s population were over the age of 60.
