The rate of theft in the country has declined by 10% over the past two years since the establishment of a headquarters to combat robbery. “Between 2007 and 2013 and before the formation of the headquarters, there was an upward trend in the frequency of theft, but that has now reversed,” said Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Moqimi, head of the Iran Law Enforcement’s Criminal Investigations Department, IRNA reported. In 2014, two headquarters were formed within the police force to combat theft and smuggling, which according to Moqimi have performed well.
