There is no shortage of intravenous serum in the country, said head of the Food and Drug Administration Rasoul Dinarvand on Monday.

“There was some concern over shortage of IV fluids last year when the Health Ministry approved the import of 30 million bags of IV fluids,” he said, IRNA reported. However, the import of IV fluids has been stopped as Iran is currently meeting the local demand via domestically produced products. Medicine imports have seen a 20% decrease currently compared with the tenure of the previous government, saving the country up to $500 million over the past four years. Iran is now meeting the need for serums through five major local companies.
