The observatory for national health indicators will be fully established by the end of the government’s first term in August. It will provide a geographical map of diseases and ailments across Iran, in terms of types, prevalence, severity and other aspects, said Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi, on Saturday. Such observatories worldwide provide data on priority health topics including mortality and burden of diseases, the Sustainable Development Goals (child nutrition, maternal and reproductive health, immunization, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, water and sanitation), non-communicable diseases and risk factors, violence and injuries, among others. “Right now, we have precise data on conditions like diabetes, cancer, obesity and overweight, as well as blood pressure in the country, and we want to have the same easy-to-reach database in other health areas as well,” Hashemi said, ILNA reported.
