A 300-bed hospital opened in Karaj, capital of Alborz Province in the presence of Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi, on Thursday. Established on land area of 16,000 sq meters, the Imam Ali (AS) hospital has different wards in emergency, internal surgery, ICU, CCU, NICU, as well as Labor-Delivery-Recovery (LDR) rooms, IRNA reported. Around 500 billion rials ($12.5 million) was spent on construction and equipping the hospital. Karaj is the fourth most populous city in Iran with a population of 1.6 million. It is located 20 km west of Tehran, at the foot of Alborz Mountains.
