Since the beginning of the current year in March, 38 people have been infected with the Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) and 3 have lost their lives to the disease, said Dr Mohammad Mahdi Gouya, head of the Infectious Diseases Office at the Health Ministry, on Saturday. “Last year, 62 infected cases were identified across the country,” he said, IRNA reported. The disease has stirred concern, he said, and urged people to check the Iranian Veterinary Organization’s seal of approval on meat products before making purchases, and to keep it in the fridge for 24 hours before use. People working in slaughterhouses are advised to use masks, gloves, and boots, as a precautionary measure.
