Since the beginning of the current year in March, police forces have seized 1.5 tons of illicit drugs in Iran’s southern province of Bushehr, said Arastu Torkaman Manesh, secretary of the Coordinating Council at Bushehr’s Drug Control Office.  “During the two and a half months, 602 drug dealers and smugglers were nabbed in the southern province,” IRNA quoted him as saying.   Officials say the battle against drug addiction and trafficking costs the country $1 billion annually. Iran lies on the transit corridor between the world’s biggest opium producer Afghanistan and drug dealers in Europe.
