The average age for first heart attack is 45 for men and 55 for women in the country while the global average age is 66 for men and 70 for women, said Dr Manuchehr Radpour, cardiologist and board member of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in Khorasan Razavi Province. “Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) develop 7 to 10 years later in women than in men due to hormonal differences,” IRNA quoted him as saying. At present, 33-38% of deaths in the country occur due to CVD. Measures have been taken under the national document on prevention of non-communicable diseases, introduced in October 2015, including CVDs.
