Plasma Derivatives

The import of plasma-derived medicines will be stopped by 2019, said Iran Blood Transfusion Organization’s deputy head for management and resources development. “Right now, there is still a shortage of plasma derivates in the country, but IBTO expects self-sufficiency in plasma collection and production in the next two years,” said Bahador Kazemi, ILNA reported. The national demand for plasma and its derivates is 600,000 liters per year. According to Kazemi, about 200,000 liters are met by the IBTO, 200,000 by private companies, and 200,000 are imported annually.
