With the start of the holy month of Ramadan (May 27), timings in the capital’s ‘even-odd’ traffic zones will be changed, said head of Tehran Traffic Police, Brigadier General Mohammadreza Mehmandar. “The current timings from 6.30 am to 7 pm will change to 6.30 am and 5 pm on the working days, Saturday to Wednesday. There is no change on Thursday when the restrictions are till 1pm,” IRNA quoted him as saying. Under the traffic restrictions, private vehicles are allowed to ply on alternate days, based on the odd or even last digit of their license plates. Saturday is earmarked for cars with the last even digit. Friday, being the weekend, is not included in the even-odd scheme.
