Four people remain missing almost a week after deadly flash floods hit the western and northwestern parts of Iran. According to the head of relief and rescue operations at the Iranian Red Crescent Organization, relief operations are still going on in Azarshahr and Ajabshir in West Azarbaijan Province.

“A total of 145 teams of 817 rescuers are providing aid services, while the search continues for the four missing,” Moteza Salimi told ISNA. At least 42 people lost their lives after flash floods and torrential rains caused rivers to overflow in the western parts of the country last weekend. Eighteen cities and towns in provinces of East Azarbaijan, West Azarbaijan, Kordestan, Mazandaran, and Zanjan were severely affected.

East Azarbaijan and West Azarbaijan had the highest casualties while the cities of Ajabshir and Azarshahr were the worst hit.
