Funds amounting to $45 million (1,717 billion rials) were allocated as compensation for flood damage and loss in the southeastern Bushehr Province, said Qasem Qaedi, general governor on Wednesday. “The devastating floods in February had caused damages of around $54 million, including $19 million in agricultural losses, and $22 million in residential and commercial buildings,” IRNA quoted him as saying. According to the Natural Disaster Management Organization, Iran is one of the most vulnerable countries prone to more than 33 types of natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, land subsistence, drought, sandstorms, to name a few.
