Some 20,000 volunteers in 1,000 IRCS teams will be on call during the Iranian New Year ‘Norouz’ holidays (March 20-April 2) across major roads in the country to provide people with emergency help. “The program is dubbed ‘Safeguarding Norouz Travelers’, and the volunteers are in the ages 18-29,” said Masoud Habibi, head of the Youth Organization of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS). The teams will be stationed in IRCS tents at entrance and exit points of every city throughout the holiday season. They will attend to tourists and visitors at 700 fixed posts in areas of health, safety, and cultural information.
