New Hospital for Birjand

A 286-bed state-run educational hospital in the eastern part of the country opened in Birjand, capital of South Khorasan Province on Monday, in the presence of Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi. A budget of $19 million (726 billion rials) was allocated for construction of the 7-storey hospital. The project started in 2006. The hospital ‘Razi-e Birjand’ has been established on a land area of 22,000 sq meters, IRNA reported. South Khorasan Province with a population of 800,000 has 11 hospitals with 950 beds.
