All food supply chains and stores will be under strict monitoring during the Norouz (Iranian New Year) holidays starting in the third week of March, said Deputy Health Minister Ali Akbar Sayyari. “Over 4,000 health inspectors organized in 2,500 teams by the Health Ministry will inspect food and beverages supplied during the Norouz festivities,” he said, IRNA reported. “Last year, 530,000 inspections of public places during Norouz, saw 12,000 units shut down and 1,000 cases sent to the Judiciary,” for violations, he said, adding that 75 teams will be on duty till 10pm every night during the holidays till April 2. The plan aims to secure food supplies and safeguard travelers’ health by checking on public places, restaurants, accommodation facilities, gas stations, and roadside facilities. The hotlines 1490 and 190 have been set up for people to report any violations of the health regulations.
