Between 15-20% of Iranian children suffer from some kind of behavioral disorders including anxiety, depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism, said Dr Mansour Bahrami, a board member of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBUMS) on Saturday. In all countries across the world, children struggle with such problems. “However in developed countries, the governments have paid attention to timely detection of the disorders so as to ensure early interventions and consequently reduce the economic burden due to the problems,” he said, IRNA reported. Most of the behavioral disorders can be identified at 2–3 years of age. Educators in kindergartens and preschools should receive essential training to be able to identify all kinds of early childhood problems. Unfortunately, such a plan has not been developed yet for educators of preschoolers.
