The fluoride therapy coverage will reach 100% in primary and middle schools within the next six years, said Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi. “The program aims to reduce children’s DMFT (decayed, missing, or filled teeth) to below one,” he said at a press conference in Semnan Province, IRNA reported. The number of DMFT (decayed, missing, or filled teeth) is five in children with primary (milk) teeth, and 2.9 in children under 12. The program was projected to cover 85%-90% of the students in this academic year (began September 23) or 6.5 million out of the 7.5 million students in schools covered under the program.
