Sponsored by Iran Veterinary Organization (IVO), the Middle East’s largest veterinary hospital began operations in Tehran on Monday.

“Expansion of veterinary hospitals is of great importance to prevent spread of common diseases between humans and animals,” said Masoud Hashemzadeh, deputy for diagnosis and treatment at the IVO, on the sidelines of the opening ceremony.

In recent years, the number of veterinary hospitals offering services to pets has reached 60 across the provinces, Mehr News Agency reported.

Some 250 veterinary healthcare centers, comprising clinics and hospitals, are active in Tehran,” said Ali Asghar Barainejad, head of Tehran Veterinary Department.

The Middle East Veterinary Specialty Hospital, in collaboration with a group of veterinary professionals in different disciplines, will offer services for diagnosis and treatment of diseases of small domestic animals, pet birds as well as exotic animals.
