Four avalanches at different locations on Chalus Road early Friday has led to the closure of the road, said Abbas Safari, head of Alborz Province Road Maintenance Office. “The avalanches triggered by heavy and prolonged snowfall across the region occurred between Gachsar and Kandovan Tunnel,” IRNA quoted him as saying. No casualties or injuries have been reported. Tehran is connected to the northern city of Chalus in Mazandaran Province via the Chalus Road through the scenic Alborz Mountain range. The road is closed until further notice.
