The second sound barrier in District 20 of Tehran Municipality (TM) will be installed at the end of the 40-km Imam Ali Expressway, where many residential apartment buildings are located close to the highway, said Abouzar Riazi, deputy of transport at District 20 Municipality.
A noise barrier or sound wall is an exterior structure designed to protect residents from noise pollution due to heavy traffic flows or other reasons. Noise barriers are most effective in mitigating roadway, railway, and industrial noise pollution, IRNA reported.
The highway which runs from Artesh Expressway at its northern flank and ends at Ayatollah Madani Street in the south passes from Districts 7, 8, 13, 14, 15 and 20. It connects the northeastern part of Tehran to its southeast, Riazi added.
