HIV Treatment

Each year, 100 babies are born with HIV in the country. “If HIV-infected women receive specific treatments during pregnancy, the risk of mother-to-child transmission of the virus will be reduced to zero,” said Mohammad Mahdi Guya, head of the Health Ministry’s Center for Infectious Diseases. “Free HIV diagnosis services are offered in the country and 200 physicians have been trained to provide HIV treatment services to the infected,” IRNA quoted him as saying. So far, 33,000 people with the virus (one-third of all infected) have been identified, he added.
