Expanding Public Transport

Three new bus routes will become operational in District 18 of Tehran in southwest of the capital soon, said Maziar Hosseini, deputy mayor for traffic and transport affairs. “Expanding the public transportation network particularly in the southern parts of the city where it is a preferred means of commuting, is high on the agenda,” he was quoted as saying by Mehr News Agency. Hosseini added that the Tehran Municipality is trying to reduce the distance to public transport access to the people in all parts of the city. The bus fleet to be allocated to the new routes will all be new, particularly since the southern parts of Tehran usually see the worst levels of air pollution due to the high traffic density.
