Nuclear Lab for Students

The inauguration of the first Plasma Laboratory in Nuclear Sciences for school students in the country has prepared the ground for them to learn early about nuclear energy and its various applications, said Ali Zarafshan, deputy minister for secondary education.

“At the laboratory, students are familiarized with principles of nuclear fission, a nuclear reaction or a radioactive decay process in which the nucleus of an atom splits into smaller parts, as well as nuclear fusion,” he said, ILNA reported.

The laboratory was opened in late October in Kordkuy city in the northern province of Golestan.

Since two years, China has been keen to transfer the knowhow and experience in setting up similar laboratories and summer schools for students, Zarafshan added.
