Nearly 12 million Iranians up to the age of 35 years are single, said Leila Boroujerdi, head of the Special Women and Youth Committee (affiliated to the Expediency Council), on the sidelines of the National Conference on Social Policymaking with a focus on families, held Monday in Tehran. Besides, 1.5 million up to the age of 50, and 150,000 who have crossed the age of 50 years, have never been married, she added. Last year, 685,352 marriages were registered in the country of which 562,671 were in urban areas and 122,681 in rural areas, salamatnews.com reported.
