President of the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) Dr. Hugh R. Taylor is in Tehran to attend the 26th Annual Congress of the Iranian Society of Ophthalmology.
“It is the first time that an ICO chief is attending the annual congress,” said Siamak Zarei, chairman of the society’s International Committee.
Taylor is expected to deliver a keynote speech at the event which started Monday and will run until Thursday, December 15, Mehr News Agency reported.The event, underway at Tehran’s Razi Conference Hall affiliated to Iran University of Medical Sciences, aims to bolster bilateral ties with the ICO.
“The council has agreed to increase the admission quota for Iranian students at medical centers under its supervision,” Zarei said.
Several representatives from the ICO, including Taylor, will hold educational workshops on the sidelines of the event.
