Iran’s Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) and Regional Information Center for Science and Technology have joined the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL). At their 60th annual meeting in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur last week, ASAIHL Board of Trustees also accepted the membership of eight new Iranian universities. “The presence of Iranian universities in international communities and their increasing impact on global decision-making and research and educational planning, is top priority of the country’s scientific diplomacy,” said Abbas Ghanbari, Iran’s scientific counselor and director of Iranian Students in East Asia, Mehr News Agency reported. ASAIHL was established in 1956 as a non-governmental organization and currently has 239 universities as its members. The Iranian city of Isfahan hosted the previous meeting of ASAIHL in 2015.
