Safety Check on Cosmetic Products

The Food and Drug Administration is executing a protocol which obliges domestic and imported personal care consumer goods (toiletries) to patch tests for safety and dermatitis. “About 50% of all cosmetic products in the market are smuggled into the country,” said Behrouz Jannat, director general for quality control at the FDA, IRNA reported. The proposal was presented in February by the FDA’s Hygienic and Cosmetic Production Unit as part of its consumer safety measures. Jannat also said that any form of misleading advertisement on cosmetic and hygiene products on mass media is banned.
