More Traditional Medicine Faculties

There are currently 10 traditional medicine faculties at universities of medical sciences across the country, said Mahmoud Khodadoust, deputy health minister for traditional medicine. “Twenty more faculties will be established at various universities of medical sciences in the near future,” the Persian language newspaper ‘Shahrvand’ quoted him as saying. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines traditional medicine as “the sum total of the knowledge, and practices based on the theories, beliefs, and experiences indigenous to different cultures, used in the maintenance of health as well as in the prevention, diagnosis, improvement or treatment of physical and mental illness.”
