A report released by Iran’s Legal Medicine Organization (LMO) says that during the first six months of the current year (started March 20), the number of burn victims decreased by 3.2% compared to the same period last year. The decrease can be attributed to greater public awareness of fire prevention, as well as quality fire safety products. During the same period, 875 moderate to severe burn injuries were registered across the country. The figure was higher in Tehran (124), Isfahan (98), and Khuzestan (86) provinces, IRNA reported. Last year, 1,720 people lost their lives due to severe burns of whom, 776 were women and 944 were men.
