Free Hospital Services for Organ Donors

Hospital expenses will be waived for those who donate their body organs in the event of brain death. “If families consent to a patient’s organ donation in public hospitals, all the expenses incurred will be waived,” Mohammad Aqajani, deputy health minister told IRNA on Monday.

A large number of patients admitted to hospital ICUs pay huge sums of money for quality care in the hope of survival with some spending months at state hospitals and incurring thousands of dollars in expenses. “In such cases, all the hospital expenses for treatment and services will be paid by the government in efforts to save the patient’s life prior to harvesting the organs or tissues in the event of brain death.”
