Afghan Worker Dies in Land Subsidence

An Afghan worker of the Tehran Province Water and Wastewater Company died in a land subsidence incident near Tehran’s Haft-e Tir Square on Saturday. The 37-year-old man was working at the bottom of a four-meter deep trench at the project site of the company. He was trapped when the land subsided and was buried under the mud that covered the entrance to the trench, various news outlets reported. The land subsided for a second time as the emergency rescue team was trying to reach him. Eye witnesses said that water was seen flowing under the subsided land.
