Currently, 75% of all food products in the country have ‘traffic light’ tags on them, said Rasoul Dinarvand, head of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Speaking on the sidelines of the awards presentation ceremony of the National Conference on Food Products Health and Safety on Sunday at Vahdat Hall in Tehran, he said the tags “will make it easier for consumers to choose healthier options,” IRNA reported.
He added that reducing salt and sugar in food products has been placed on priority on the FDA’s agenda, and the level of trans fatty acids in cooking oil and other food products will be reduced to zero by 2025.
