The 9th round of the exhibition ‘Women and National Production’ to showcase brands and products by women entrepreneurs is underway at Goftegoo Park in west Tehran. Goods including 80 local brands of apparel, accessories, and items for Nowruz (Iranian New Year) is on offer, said Mojtaba Abdollahi, deputy for social affairs at the Tehran Municipality, ISNA reported. A separate area at the expo is assigned to 2,700 participating female breadwinners. In the last fiscal year that ended in March, 5,000 women were trained for occupational skills, namely tailoring, at the 140 TM-affiliated Kowsar rehabilitation centers. According to official figures, the number of female-headed households has more than doubled over the past 25 years, from 1.2 million in 1991 to 2.5 million in 2015. The expo concludes on September 16.
