The first national radiotherapy congress was held on Thursday at Imam Khomeini Hospital Complex in Tehran. The event, organized by the Iranian Society of Clinical Oncology, focused on the latest developments in the field of radiotherapy in the country,” said congress executive secretary, Dr. Hassan Nosrati, IRNA reported. Ethical issues and managing side effects from radiation therapy (especially for head and neck cancer) were among the important issues discussed at the congress. Radiation therapy or radiotherapy is therapy using ionizing radiation, generally as part of cancer treatment. At present, there are 400 radiation therapists working in the field of radiation oncology in Iran.
