A total of 5,160 Iranians donated blood during the three ‘Nights of Qadr’ (June 23, 26, and 28) in the holy month of Ramadan. Laylat al-Qadr, which translates into “Night of Power”, or “Night of Decree,” are of significance in the fasting month of Ramadan as they mark the first revelation of the Holy Qur’an to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Women comprised 4% of the donors, and men 96%, ILNA reported. Last week, head of Iran Blood Transfusion Organization said the country’s blood reserves are 11 times more than the demand in hospitals, and there are no shortages in this regard. “Since the beginning of Ramadan, 19,000 people have visited donation centers to give blood,” he said.
