The Health Ministry has been successful in bringing the majority of medications needed for infertility treatment under insurance coverage, said Mohammad Esmaeil Motlaq, director general of the ministry’s Office for Population Health, Family and Schools. “Providing insurance coverage to most of the medicines is a great stride in supporting infertile couples, numbering 3 million in the country, who cannot afford the high costs of infertility treatments,” he said, reported. Noting the graying population of Iran, Motlaq said fertility and childbearing is a major pillar upon which the Health Reform Plan (launched in 2014) hinges. The population rate is gradually seeing an increasing trend since March 2015, he said.
