An estimated 900 kilograms of illegal drugs were seized since the beginning of the Iranian New Year (started March 20), said Anti-Narcotics Police Chief General Ali Moayedi. He added that during the two weeks “847 individuals were arrested on charges of drug-related crimes including drug possession, use and drug trafficking,” IRNA reported. Sixty homeless addicts were taken from Tehran’s streets and transferred to the special addicts’ shelters in the same period.
