A five-year plan to empower the youth in environmental areas is to be drawn up jointly by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, and the Department of Environment, said Mahnaz Mazaheri, deputy head of the DoE. “Environmental issues have a great impact on young people’s social inclusion, both mentally and in the real sense,” she said, adding that by creating a positive outlook towards natural resources, “it could help harness youth potential in overcoming environmental challenges.” Earlier collaboration between the two sides include promoting green industries, supporting young green entrepreneurs, encouraging “green marriages” (where young couples are trained in environmental education camps), ISNA reported.
