Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday called on Muslim nations across the world to unite in the face of common threats and enemies.
"Today, the enemies of Islam are using all their resources to confront the Islamic community," he said during a meeting in Tehran with a group of Iraqis who will be serving pilgrims of Imam Hussein's (PBUH) shrine during Arbaeen, the Leader’s website reported.
Thousands of Iranian pilgrims are expected to travel to Iraq in the coming weeks for the Arbaeen commemorations—one of the largest annual gatherings of Muslims in the world. It coincides with Oct. 19 this year.
Arbaeen marks the end of a 40-day mourning period following Ashura, which commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (PBUH), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), in 680.
The Leader said Muslim nations will be able to overcome all challenges, if they cooperate more closely.
Ayatollah Khamenei hailed strong relations between Iran and Iraq, stressing that enemies will never be able to cause a rift between the two countries.
