Cutting Internet Costs

Ministry of communication and information technology has held meetings with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to discuss ways to reduce internet prices. Currently, Iranian users pay 30,000 rials ($1.12) per gigabyte of traffic while domestic traffic and international traffic rates are not charged separately. An IT manager, Ardeshir Montaseri said domestic traffic accounts for 30% of internet usage adding that it has to be cheaper than the international one. Once the rates are charged separately, each gigabyte of traffic can be expected to cost between 15,000 and 20,000 rials ($0.56-$0.75).
