    Air Force Chief Visits Pakistan

Air Force Commander Lieutenant General Hassan Shahsafi flew to Islamabad on Monday at the head of a high-profile delegation. The visit by the air chief came upon the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, Pakistan Today reported. The Iranian commander held discussions with Aman and other high-ranking Pakistani military officials. Pakistani Chief of Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Iran last November upon the invitation of Chairman of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri. Iranian and Pakistani naval forces have long-standing bilateral cooperation. But the border has been a source of tension between the two neighbors, resulting from frequent attacks by Pakistani-based terrorists against security forces in Iran's southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan Province. Iranian officials were initially critical of Islamabad's poor control over common borders but they have expressed satisfaction over the strengthened border security in recent months.
