Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said the decision on the admission of Iran that has applied to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be made after the UN Security Council sanctions on the country are lifted as part a prospective nuclear deal, adding that the time framework for Iran’s accession to the organization will be defined after consultations among SCO member states, Sputnik reported.

The SCO is a political, military and economic alliance that includes Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Iran has observer status in the organization.
