Vacation Trips Liven Up in Norouz

After two years of subdued trips during Norouz holidays due to the Covid pandemic, the latest travel season from March 20 to April 2 saw significant numbers of vacationers traveling around the country on the roads and also by plane, train or ship.
According to official figures over five million people made trips by road vehicles. Around one million holidaymakers chose the railroad mode to visit cities around the country and twice that number opted for flying to their destinations. In addition, two million travelers took a voyage on ships and ferries for pleasure or to reach their destinations, especially islands in the Persian Gulf.
All major tourist hotspots, namely shrine cities of Mashhad and Qom, resort islands of Kish and Qeshm, historical cities of Yazd, Isfahan, Tabriz and Shiraz, resorts and ports on the shores of the Persian Gulf, including Bushehr and Bandar Abbas, beach cities in northern provinces of Mazandaran and Gilan, and even the buzzling capital of Tehran were crowded with unseen numbers of revelers and sightseers in over two years since the outset of the coronavirus pandemic.
Just ahead of Norouz, authorities eased Covid restrictions due to the notable decline in the caseloads and the adequate coverage of vaccination against the contagion.
