President Ebrahim Raeisi on Sunday sent greetings to his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, whose nation is celebrating the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
In a letter addressed to Xi Jinping, Raeisi congratulated the national holiday to the people of China and urged the development of bilateral ties, President.ir reported.
“We hope to see cooperation expand in economic, political and cultural areas in the new chapter of relations between the two nations,” the letter read.
The president highlighted the significance of growing ties with Beijing through China’s Belt and Road Initiative as well as the 25-year Comprehensive Strategic Partnership signed earlier this year between Tehran and Beijing.
He noted that the two plans can pave the way for “development, stability and peace.”
Beijing held a flag-raising ceremony on October 1 to mark the founding of the PRC and pay tribute to soldiers who lost their lives for independence.
Beijing has been supplying Tehran with large shipments of its Sinopharm vaccine to help the country contain the Covid-19 outbreak.
