Azadegan Proposals Under Scrutiny

Development plans presented for the South Azadegan Oilfield are comprehensive and competitive, because of which they should be scrutinized closely. According to Noureddine Shahnazizadeh, chief executive officer of Iran's Petroleum Engineering and Development Company, 14 domestic and international firms are competing to win the tender, some of which have not submitted their proposal yet, ISNA reported on Monday. Pointing to the master development plans received, Shahnazizadeh said, "Malaysia's state oil company Petronas, Royal Dutch Shell, France's Total and Japan's Inpex have presented their plans and Italy's Eni will deliver its scheme in the near future." According to the official, proposals are being assessed technically.  "As soon as they are approved by the National Iranian Oil Company's Reservoir Management Committee, another consulting committee will study them financially," he said. Shahnazizadeh noted that some companies have suggested drilling a large number of well to boost production, while others believe fewer wells can serve the purpose if they are drilled with a greater depth.
