The sixth Iran Gas Trunkline (IGAT-6)–a major component of the national gas grid–will go on stream by the end of December, a top gas official said. "I-GAT-6 pipeline project is planned for completion in three weeks, which will raise gas supply by 70-80 million cubic meters daily," Hamidreza Araqi, managing director of National Iranian Gas Company, was quoted as saying by Shana on Saturday. According to Araqi, the pipeline will have the capacity to transfer 110 million cubic meters of gas a day from South Pars Gas Field in the Persian Gulf to southern and western regions, namely Hamedan and Kermanshah provinces. In July 2015, a build-operate-transfer contract to lay IGAT-6 was signed by Gas Engineering and Development Company and Pasargad Energy Development Company.  The project included the establishment of over 600 kilometers of pipeline, in addition to installing five gas compressor stations, at an estimated cost of $2.2 billion. Iran is currently exporting gas to Iraq from Naftshahr region in Kermanshah Province through a pipeline diverging from IGAT-6.
