Domestic gasoline consumption has reached an average of 83 million liters per day in the past three weeks, the deputy head of National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company said. "Although daily consumption of gasoline has registered an unexpected peak, NIORDC has faced no problem in supplying the much-needed fuel," Shahrokh Khosravani was also quoted as saying by ISNA on Monday. According to the official, gasoline consumption in July experienced a 9% increase compared to previous months when Iranians on average consumed 74 million liters per day. "The overproduction of low-quality cars by domestic manufacturers has exacerbated the problem," he said, pointing to higher consumption data. Khosravani noted that Iran has 37 main gasoline distribution centers with various storage capacities. "North Khorasan, Tehran, Mazandaran and Gilan are among provinces that have the biggest gasoline inventories, as they normally host the largest number of travelers throughout the year," he said.
