The spokesperson for the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee has cited Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi as saying that the major powers engaged in the nuclear talks with Iran have modified their demands, ICANA reported on Tuesday.

According to MP Hossein Naqavi Hosseini, the senior nuclear negotiator said at a meeting of the committee, “The gap (in negotiating positions) is still wide and the two sides have stuck to their red lines, although the other side has modified its demands.”

Iran and the P5+1 (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) are in talks to work out a final deal by a new deadline of June 30, 2015 to resolve the long-running dispute over Tehran’s nuclear work.

Naqavi Hosseini also quoted Araqchi as saying that the decision to extend the talks was “sensible” and that the negotiators will not violate the red lines, although they are aware of the fact that protracted talks make the situation more difficult.
