All villages with over 20 households will have access to the Internet, the minister of communications and information technology said on July 18. Mahmoud Vaezi made the statement as President Hassan Rouhani visited the southwestern province of Kermanshah, adding that 357 villages received access to high-speed Internet during his visit. Vaezi further said the administration of President Hassan Rouhani has a special focus on underdeveloped areas and facilities will be extended equitably to all areas. “Providing e-services in villages which, due to low Internet speed, were not possible before will be the government’s next step,” he said. One of the main objectives of the administration is to enable villagers to have access to e-learning websites and governmental portals.  They can also earn money from opportunities provided by the Internet, such that villagers and rural producers would be able to directly sell their products and earn a greater share of profits.
