Parsijoo to Be Launched in September

The second Iranian search engine "Parsijoo" (meaning Persian Search) will become fully operational in September, the managerial team of the project said at the 11th meeting of the Strategic Council for Local Search Engine Plan.
Parsijoo hopes to achieve over 80% of the quality that Iran's most visited website—Google—offers, Parsijoo's managerial team said during the meeting held at the Organization of Information Technology.
In three months, the team will have completed development of local business services, downloads and online shopping, the user interface as well as profile and email account creation. They will have to deliver monthly progress reports to the council until the engine's launch, IRNA reported on Wednesday.
It has been predicted that the website will garner 500,000, 1.2 million, 2.5 million and 4 million users in the first four years of its launch respectively.
The beta version of Parsijoo is receiving 190,000 referrals daily and can potentially host five times the current number.
The intricacies of web markup language and graphs, along with gaining a high ranking, have been particularly challenging, the directors declared.
They also noted that hardware infrastructures and broadband Internet need to be further developed.
Additionally, winning user trust in spite of common preconceptions in regards with content filtering will be difficult because giant foreign rivals are already well established.
